This is a superb composite illustration of the Agrati fork crown greatly enhanced by the lining, and the Oval to Round fork blades terminating in the Campagnolo chrome dropouts both of which were in fine condition and have been brought to a nearly new appearance. The lining detail on the fork blades is quite unique and beautifully executed. I requested to leave the front light boss on the fork blade rather than to remove it to help retain the frames originality. Do I remember those Ever Ready lamps and the batteries, and always carrying a spare or two in the saddlebag. The rear diamond showing in the background, one can see the lining detail upon a chain stay, the lining in the bottom bracket area, and the double box lining on the down tube. The marks on floor are from Jose's take away lunch, oh dear.

Here we have an interesting shot which clearly shows the lining and shape of the bottom bracket shell. The original pump pegs remain as they were brazed to the down tube. The cable tube brazed to the top of the bottom bracket shell also remains, and as used on so many bikes in this particular era. We can have a good view here of the chain stays and the lovely pattern created during lining, and just how the single line extends to well beyond halfway of the chain stay, toward the rear dropouts.

I have included this enlarged illustration of the seat tube to show just how clean the ivory rings appear with the blue lining colour cutting into both colours, and so leaving a very sharp finish to each ring at both top and bottom. I also feel that the specially mixed blue, together with the Ivory from my 650b Randonneur is now beginning to compliment each other colour wise.

There are two reasons for this pleasant interlude, one is to ensure that Jose will most probably try to eat them off the screen, and the other is that I have enough and need a brake ... Got It.

This illustration shows the detail around the seat cluster and just how the darker blue, but I hasten to add not a midnight blue compliments the frame. The double box lining on the top tube shows clearly the neat proportions, as against so many bikes that are lined and are very much overdone. The simple spear point lugs seem to be leaping off the frame such is the effect created. The binder bolt bracket which will be fitted with an Allen bolt, can just be seen. Seat stays have been lined with the same pattern that is used for the forks, I find it most attractive, and it has changed the whole concept of the frame. A boss on both chain stays is to provide a fixing point for the Bespoke rear carrier, hand made in stainless steel. Randonneur Blog Jeffdownes66.blogger.com

Here she is all ready for the ball in her new colours fresh from the paint shop. The forks and fork crown are waiting to be fitted so here we can see how the Prugnat lug design is beginning to show on the head tube and the seat post cluster. The Campagnolo self cantering dropouts have been thoroughly polished and still retain the original chrome finish. Usually bubbling occurs after such a long period of time but not so for my frame. I could have had a darker blue for the head tube and the seat tube rings, but as she is going to receive darker blue lining I decided it would be too much of a blast of colour.

The lining has begun with Double Box lining to the top tube, and two on the down tube neatly set at either side of the W F Holdsworth transfer. This transfer provided for a rather sad looking colour and after much discussion it was decided that Paulus Quiros adopted their own unique system of lettering as used on their own frames. A font was selected and the result is truly superb. The lugs have been lined and the design on the seat stays, and chain stays was left entirely to Jose Quiros and I am truly delighted with his ability. My original head badge, restored, but no paint work is seen here on the head tube, and rather than the original rivets the head tube has been tapped to receive two very fine stainless steel engineering screws

Unfortunately here we can see just how dull the transfer of W F Holdsworth is but soon to be replaced with some really lovely graphics. I find this an interesting shot of the five tube lugged joint. I have been asked quite often where are five tubes and so often the bottom bracket seems to be for forgotten, and not counted as a tube. Here again we can see the benefits of the lining providing for a fine contrast to the principle colour.

Some will agree and others will not in relation to my specification for the frame colours to be reflected upon the mud guards. The two finer lines in Ivory that are set either side of the central broader Blue line have both the effect of balance between them and the frame, but also greatly enhance the detailed shape of the mud guards. These are the new version of the Zeppelin Art Nouveau styled guards that have much detail, and they are so shaped that they provide for ample protection reaching down as far as the tyre wall.
